EMERGENCY SAFETY PLAN
Diana's Lil' Darlings Family Home Childcare
Where Children Come First
The purpose of this plan is to ensure that the licensee/primary care giver and alternate care giver of Diana's Lil Darlings are prepared to respond in an emergency, such as a fire or natural disaster. Children will participate in a fire drill (alerted by a smoke alarm) at least once every month, and a drill for natural disasters (alerted by a whistle) at least once every 3 months. A record of fire and disaster drills will be maintained on the premises for 2 years. Phone numbers for emergency services are posted on all telephones in the residence.
FIRE
The care giver will access the Daily Sign In/Out logbook (if possible), carrying infant(s), and staying as low to the ground as possible, assist small children to the designated meeting area in the far back yard by the back wall. The care giver will use the Daily Signing/Out sheet to verify that all children are
accounted for. The care giver will notify emergency personnel by calling 911 at the earliest possible opportunity, ensuring that, in doing so, the safety of the children is not compromised.
NATURAL DISASTER (Earthquake)
The care giver will direct children to the laundry room, away from windows or high ledges. When shaking has stopped, the care giver will access the Daily sign In/Out logbook, escort children to the back yard, and verity that all children are accounted for. If the care giver smells gas, observes flooding from broken water pipes or an electrical short circuit, the care giver will take the appropriate action (turn off the main gas valve, water valve, and/or electrical current). The main gas valve is at the meter on the north west corner of the house, along with the power box for the electrical. The water valve is under the metal plate by the curb in front of the house.
CHEMICAL SPILL. FLOOD. EXPLOSION. OR OTHER DISASTER
The care giver will follow the instructions of the local authority. The care giver must, in any event, attempt to access the Daily Sign In/Out logbook in order to verity that all children are accounted for, the proceed as directed.
RELOCATION OF CHILDREN
If children must be relocated, the will be taken to Me Donalds at Lone Mountain and Decatur, or to a site specified by emergency personnel. Phone numbers of each child's parents are on the last page of the Daily Sign In/Out logbook. Parents will be contacted and instructed to pick up their child if necessary. Children will remain under the direct supervision of the care giver until picked up by the parent or authorized escort.
I have read and understand Emergency Safety Procedures.
